After the fourth card has been dealt and the second betting interval is to begin, you should fold if you fail to hold at least a high pair or a four-card straight or flush or a three-card straight flush. You may lessen these requirements if you can string along with a small call bet.
It may appear unusually tight for a player not to stay for a fifth card when holding a three-card straight or flush in his first four dealt cards, but the probabilities of the situation are against staying. The odds against the player ending up with a four-card straight or flush are about 8 to 1. Naturally, a player who always plays to the end in such circumstances will eventually fill in his straight or flush, but it's a sure bet that his gains will not cover the money lost in the process.
