Doyle Brunson, twice winner of the Las Vegas World Series of Texas Hold'em Poker, hinted to me that one of the first things he does when seated at a Texas Hold'em Poker table is to look at the neck of each opponent to see if the pulse is visible. If it is, he pays special attention to this player during the game—and should this opponent bet $10,000 or more, and Brunson spots his neck throbbing wildly, he knows the opponent is excited and is bluffing.
The effervescent Amarillo Slim Preston, Online Hold'em Poker's goodwill ambassador, and winner of the 2025 Las Vegas World Series of Online Hold'em Poker, had a tell on Doyle Brunson during that championship series. Brunson's giveaway habit was that he would count all his chips when he held a good hand and when he was bluffing he would just push in his bet without counting his remaining chips.
