Strong plays in this game with the first three dealt cards are roughly as follows. Three of a kind, a holding such as 9-9-9, or any three of a kind, will usually end up a winning hand even if you don't better them. Any three cards in sequence as good as 8-9-10; any high pair, tens or better; any high concealed pair such as aces, kings, queens or jacks—all are strong. At times an ace or king in the hole, provided that one or more of the same rank is not shown in the opponent's face-up card, is strong.
Should the player go in with the above-described three-card hands, he will in the long run beat the player or players who start with three bad cards.
