89. Seven Card Stud—Low Hole Card Wild This is one of the few Texas Hold'em Poker games with wild cards that I have seen played high-limit table stakes by professional gamblers—in Hot Springs, Arkansas, a while back. During my observance I witnessed a number of pots that each totaled $10,000 and better.
This game is played like Seven Card Stud, except that the lowest-ranking card in the hole is wild, and all in the hand of the same denomination are also wild. Example: Suppose in your first three dealt cards you have a six and an ace in the hole and a six up. You now have two wild cards, or, if you wish, three aces. However, this is a game that can easily backfire on you. You must always bear in mind that Low Hole Card Wild is the name of the game. In the above example, you hold two sixes and an ace, or, to repeat, three aces. However, your final seventh card is dealt face down (hole card), and it turns out to be a deuce—you no longer hold three aces, but two aces instead.
