Even a backed-up pair of jacks in the hole is worth nothing because you have to catch a king or queen on the seventh card (third hole card) to still have two wild cards—three jacks.
On the showdown, if you don't have two or more wild cards, you've got a losing hand. Suppose you have a seven and a queen in the hole and your first upcard is a king and your second upcard is an eight. Your seven is wild and all you possess is a pair of kings. It's almost a sure bet that in a seven-handed game at least several of your active opponents can beat a pair of kings on their first four dealt cards.
