Strategy at Seven Card Stud Most of the tips covered in Chapter 4, General Strategy, plus much of the strategy in Chapter 11, Five Card Stud, apply to Seven Card Stud, in addition to the strategy that follows.
The most important decision that a player can make in Seven Card Stud is what he does with his first three dealt cards. This decision will determine whether or not he is a winner or loser at this game over the long run. If the player stays in with weak cards, he'll usually emerge a loser. If he stays in with three strong cards, he'll usually emerge a winner regardless of how he plays the remaining four cards to be dealt. The player who plays with three first dealt strong cards will find that he'll win more pots and bigger pots than the player who plays with three first dealt weak cards.
