Protection Against False Cuts Like the false shuffle, a false cut, when well executed, appears to transpose the two halves of the deck but actually leaves them just as they were. When the other players are in the habit of letting the dealer do his own cutting, he executes the false cut. Otherwise, a confederate at his right does the dirty work. This last is the most effective method because suspicion is much less likely to fall on the dealer.
