The bluff is an attempt to convince opponents that one possesses a higher-ranking Online Hold'em Poker hand than all other participants when the truth of the matter is that the bluffer possesses an inferior hand. In short, the bluffer is trying to steal the pot by trying to frighten his opponents into believing that he holds the best hand—thereby causing them to fold and throw in their hands. This the bluffer tries to accomplish by a verbal show of assurance as to the strength of his hand followed by a series of raises and big bets.
