The game requires less concentration than California Lowball because the information gathered from active opponents' discards is more revealing. Generally speaking, the rank of hands on the showdown is higher than in California Lowball, due to the two single card draws after the fifth card has been dealt. The average winning hand in a six-or-more-handed game is an eight high or better.
Strategy: After three or four cards have been dealt to each player, play if you have (1) the best showing hand; (2) you hold only one card higher than a nine; (3) should a good one card draw give you a better hand showing than any of your opponents. Raise if you hold three good low cards in the first three or four dealt cards and no one has previously raised.
