After each player has received his fifth card, play with a three-card eight, if no raises have preceded. If no raises have occurred, raise with a four-card high nine.
After the second discard and draw, the player who has the best hand showing and acts first will usually have the edge and should raise. On the showdown, you will often be able to judge that an opponent is not so strong as he pretends by recalling his betting style on earlier betting intervals, and which cards the opponent had discarded and replaced.
