After receiving pocket cards, you are immediately faced with a choice: play your cards and either raise or call the blinds, or fold.

The best possible two-card draw is a hand consisting of 7-3-2-2-2. Such a hand makes it difficult for your opponents to possess a top-notch hand because there's only one possible remaining deuce available to them. However, most top Las Vegas professional Lowball players such as Doyle Brunson, Bobby Baldwin, David Reese, Joey Hawthorne and Mike Caro know better than to draw two cards to a possible straight. But any time they make a good two-card draw to three really small cards without a deuce, they often have a possible straight looking down on them, should the first drawn card make a four-card straight. Example: I draw two cards to a 6-4-3 and the first card I look at is a five. I now possess a hand even a sucker wouldn't draw one card to. A seven or a deuce would make that 6-5-4-3 hand a disastrous straight, and the best hand I could make with my fifth-card draw would be an eight high (8-6-5-4-3). If you look at the ten best-ranking hands in the table on page 125, you'll see that it's the ninth-best hand in Lowball Deuce to Seven.
However, I still insist that there are times that a two-card draw is not only a good draw but a mandatory money draw.
