The Deal The dealer deals one card at a time to each player, starting with the leader (player to the dealer's left) and continuing clockwise until each player in the game has the required number of cards. The cards are dealt face up or face down or both according to the rules of the game being played. The dealer must make certain that the players place their bets or antes, if any, into the pot at their proper turn of play, and check each player's bet to make sure it is correct. He must gather in all player discards as they are made and place them face down to one side out of play forming a discard pile. In Stud Texas Hold'em Poker games, the dealer must call the high hand in every round and instruct the high hand that he must act first.
Dealing from Part of the Deck A dealer is not permitted to deal from a cut portion of the pack. The cut portions must be united, and the dealer must deal from the entire pack.
