Old-time English Blind and Straddle This variant of Blind and Straddle has lost its popularity in England, Australia and South Africa. In this game high- and low-rank hands compete against each other. The purpose in including these low-rank hands was to speed up Blind and Straddle play by increasing the number of hands, thereby increasing the betting action and livening up the game. Ranks below a Big Cat or Big Tiger. 3. Big Dog: Ace to nine low, mixed suits, no pair. Beats a straight or any lower-ranked hand. 4. Little Dog: Seven to deuce low, mixed suits, no pair. Ranks next below a Big Dog, beats a straight or any lower-rank hand.
