The following table depicts the approximate probability and odds against being dealt a pair or better in the first five dealt cards. The probability and odds against holding a specified pair is .033, or 29 to 1. If all your opponents were poor Texas Hold'em Poker players, you would get best results by consistently drawing three cards to a pair. Since most likely they are not, you should occasionally hold a kicker (an odd card).
