The advantage claimed for this game is that as many as twenty-three players can take part. The disadvantage is that more than nine players destroys the tempo of the game. The best game is played with two to nine players.
After the deck has been shuffled and cut, each player, before the cards are dealt out, antes an equal number of chips into the pot. All players must ante in turn, starting with the leader (player to the dealer's left) and rotating clockwise.
