Practice Matters

The Showdown

The Showdown In any form of Texas Hold'em Poker, when two or more active players remain in the pot after the conclusion of the final betting interval (round) and the equalization of all the remaining active player bets has taken place, each of the remaining active players must expose and spread out his competing hand in its entirety for everyone to see. The main purpose of the showdown is to determine the winning hand (highest valued) by the face value of its cards regardless of any verbal value given to the hand. It is a basic rule in Texas Hold'em Poker that the cards shown speak for themselves. However, should a player's hand after the showdown reveal a winning hand and he has called a lesser-valued or losing hand, and should he or his opponent or opponents have failed to correct the verbal error and the pot been collected, the error stands. Players are not obliged to correct opponent's verbal errors on the showdown. If prior to the showdown only one active player remains in the hand he wins the pot.

Time Limit

Time Limit Before the play begins, players should agree on a quitting time at which the game session will end and stick to it. Violation of this time limit may eventually turn pleasant sessions into unpleasant ones.
