The tactics of betting and raising in this Stud variation are almost identical to those in Five Card Stud. The one difference is that in English Stud one can seldom be nearly so sure of possessing the winning hand, because the discard and draw of the last two cards may play havoc with your hand. Early raises are about the same in one game as in the other. However, bets and raises in the fourth and fifth betting intervals in English Stud are in a class by themselves. The opponents' bets, discards, draws, stand pats and upcards must now be taken into consideration. Example: If your most serious betting opponent shows three cards of different numerical value which cannot be made into a straight or flush, he cannot possibly have better than three of a kind of his highest upcard. However, if you can account for two cards of that rank, then his best three-of-a-kind hand will be three of a kind of one of the two next remaining face cards shown. As in all Stud games, you must be careful of betting into a possible cinch hand.

The rules of play are exactly the same as those governing English Stud Online Hold'em Poker, described above, with one notable exception. The winning hand is the one that would be the "worst," that is, the lowest-ranking, in a game of English Stud Online Hold'em Poker. In addition, aces count low, straights and flushes count high, and the best possible low cinch hand is 6-4-3-2-A.
