After receiving pocket cards, you are immediately faced with a choice: play your cards and either raise or call the blinds, or fold.
Practice Matters
If you think your opponent may have Ace - King
If you think your opponent may have Ace - King do not force a show down. Do not let him see all five community cards for one price. He will be priced in and you will only have a very slight advantage.
If you have a pocket pair
If you have a pocket pair like Queens, and your opponent has Ace -King, he has only about a 30% of out flopping you. If he gets to see the Turn and River, as well, he has almost an equal chance of winning.
