Estimating Probability of Flopping a Set: multiply 2 (outs) x 2 % x 3 (cards). 2 x 2% x 3 = 12 % In this case since the actual number of unknown cards is 50, this method will give you an exact probability. Estimating Probability of Making a Flush: multiply 9 (outs) x 2 % 9 x 2 % = 18 % As you can see, this is slightly different than the 19% that we calculated earlier. But, definitely, close enough for the purpose of quickly calculating odds during a texas holdem poker game. Using this 2% method, to estimate the probability of making a flush on the Turn or River, simply multiply the 18% by 2 which equals 36%.
Calculating the odds of catching an out is only half the battle. In order to determine if you are priced in, to try to catch of your outs, you will need to calculate something called pot odds. In simple terms, pot odds is the ratio of the size of a bet to the size of the pot.
