If the low hand is comprised of zero, one, two, three, four or five cards, the rank of low is determined by the total number of points of the cards held by the player. Example: a player holds five cards—four aces, and a two-spot—the low point count is 6. A player holds four cards—four aces—the low point count is 4. A player holds three cards, three aces, the low point count is 3; a player holds two cards, two aces, the low point count is 2; a player holds one card, one ace, the low point count is 1; a player holds no cards, the low point count is zero, which is the best possible low-count hand.
